Position Overview – Medical Assistant:
The Medical Assistant plays a key role in supporting patient care by ensuring clinical procedures and assessments are completed according to program policies and medical standards. Working under the guidance of the Nurse Supervisor, the Medical Assistant is responsible for laboratory tasks, assessments, and maintaining a safe and supportive clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and ship patient lab specimens in accordance with regulatory guidelines

  • Organize and prepare monthly patient rosters for testing and manage lab results

  • Assist in coordinating exams and annual physical appointments

  • Take and record vital signs, perform health assessments, administer TB tests, and conduct blood draws

  • Manage lab inventory and ensure cleanliness and safety in the work environment

  • Collaborate with team members on lab-related issues and patient needs

  • Maintain confidentiality of patient records and report potential hazards as required

Qualifications:

  • Valid Medical Assistant certification or documented training (as required by state)

  • CPR and First Aid certification

  • Experience in a behavioral health or addiction recovery setting preferred

  • Strong interpersonal, decision-making, and computer skills

  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and laboratory protocols

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively and use hearing and vision aids as needed

  • Long periods of standing, bending, and occasional use of personal protective equipment

  • May involve exposure to blood-borne pathogens and varied levels of stress

  • Standard medical office environment with keyboard/computer use
