Position Summary
Hillsboro Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to support patient care in a collaborative clinical environment. In this role, you will assist providers with patient procedures, ensure a seamless care experience, and manage both front- and back-office tasks. 💰 Pay Range: $23.09–$32.09/hr
💲 Additional Pay: 5% MA certification differential (if applicable)
Key Responsibilities
Core Duties (Performed Most of the Time):

Schedule patient appointments in the EMR system according to provider guidelines.

Register and check in patients, collect co-pays, verify insurance, and manage records.

Escort patients to exam rooms, take vitals, record medical history, and update medications.

Assist with lab work, venipuncture, EKGs, injections, and specimen collection.

Support providers during in-office procedures, wound management, and sterile processing.

Prepare exam rooms and maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.

Provide patient education, communicate lab/x-ray results, and handle follow-up calls.

Initiate delegated protocols and perform limited x-rays (with certification).

Mentor and train Clinical Assistants as needed.
Occasional Duties:

Attend staff meetings and participate in clinic improvement initiatives.

Monitor supply needs and communicate requests in a timely manner.

Stay updated on insurance requirements and workflow changes.
Qualifications
Education
-
High school diploma or GED required.
-
Completion of a Medical Assistant (MA) or EMT program, or 1 year of relevant experience.
Experience
-
Minimum of 1 year working in an ambulatory clinic assisting with provider-ordered procedures.

EMR experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification

Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required within 90 days of hire.

MA or EMT certification preferred.
Skills & Abilities

Strong patient care, communication, and customer service skills.

Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of medical terminology, EMR systems, and insurance protocols.

Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.
