Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Deliver competent technical and clinical support in alignment with Cincinnati Children’s policies, best practices, and department needs. Assist care providers with procedures and patient exams, prepare patients for treatment, and provide care that is family-centered and culturally sensitive. Engage families as partners in care decisions by offering information, services, and support respectfully and collaboratively.

  • Customer Service: Advocate for patients and families by attentively addressing their needs and concerns. Deliver courteous and timely service, providing education and information as needed.

  • Collaboration: Work effectively with colleagues to solve problems and meet objectives. Build positive relationships by recognizing and respecting the skills and contributions of team members. Share knowledge and support the team to maintain a professional and positive work environment.

  • Data Management: Maintain accurate patient records following department policies. Assist in data collection and ensure proper documentation, including obtaining consent and release forms when applicable.

  • Laboratory Support: Manage specimens according to protocols, stay informed about routine testing procedures, retrieve results, and communicate normal lab findings as delegated.

The Medical Assistant role requires appropriate training, education, and demonstrated clinical competency to perform delegated clinical and administrative duties under the supervision of a nurse or licensed physician.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Completion of a Medical Assisting program with no direct experience OR

  • Completion of a formal medical services training program from the U.S. Armed Forces OR

  • One year of related work experience
