Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical Biller to join our Billing & Collections Department. This role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and professionalism. Under the supervision of the Business Office Manager, the Medical Biller will ensure accurate charge entry, coding, and billing processes to support the financial health of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Enter patient charges and perform daily data entry (minimum of 120 charges per 8-hour day).

• Review superbills for accuracy and process provider service changes.

• Maintain and track logs for missing or incorrect services, DME, pharmaceuticals, and workers’ compensation reports.

• Obtain charge information from physicians to complete billing.

• Code and enter procedure and diagnosis information using CPT, ICD9, HCPCS, and RBRVS.

• Assist with coding review, error resolution, and billing production.

• Ensure all billing activities are compliant with privacy regulations and office standards.

• Perform additional clerical and billing duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

• Experience: 2–5 years of billing/data entry experience in a healthcare setting (orthopedic, physical therapy, or podiatry preferred).

• Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in CPT, ICD9, HCPCS, RBRVS, and E&M Modifier 95 & 97 guidelines.

  • Ability to type at least 40 wpm.

  • Proficiency with Outlook, computer systems, and scanners.

• Other Skills:

  • Strong communication and telephone etiquette.

  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret medical documentation.

Physical Demands

• Sitting and walking with occasional stooping, reaching, and bending.

• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

• Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.

• Normal range hearing for phone and in-person communication.
