Certified Outpatient Medical Coder Job – Join UCHealth’s Professional Billing Team

We are hiring an experienced Certified Outpatient Medical Coder to join UCHealth’s Professional Coding Department in Denver. As a Certified Outpatient Medical Coder, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate diagnostic and procedural coding to support medical billing and compliance. This full-time, 100% remote position offers flexibility, competitive pay ($24.11 – $36.17 per hour based on experience), and exceptional benefits. Certified Outpatient Medical Coder Responsibilities

As a Certified Outpatient Medical Coder, you will be responsible for reviewing medical records and assigning appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes for outpatient services. You’ll collaborate with supervisors and healthcare providers to clarify documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Review and analyze medical documentation for correct coding.

  • Assign diagnostic and procedure codes according to current classification systems.

  • Manage charge assignments for various clinics or departments.

  • Communicate coding and documentation issues with supervisors or managers.

  • Participate in continuous education to enhance coding knowledge and stay updated with guidelines.

  • Exhibit strong judgment, critical thinking, and independence in a fast-paced work environment.


Certified Outpatient Medical Coder Qualifications

To qualify as a Certified Outpatient Medical Coder, candidates must have:

  • A High School diploma or GED.

  • A coding certification from AHIMA or AAPC.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of outpatient medical coding experience.
