Key Responsibilities of the Medical Coding Auditor

  • Perform detailed data quality reviews on patient records to verify coding accuracy and compliance.

  • Identify missed secondary diagnoses or procedures and ensure regulatory adherence.

  • Monitor and apply updates from Medicare, payer bulletins, and OIG Work Plans.

  • Maintain expert-level understanding of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, NCCI edits, and APC rules.

  • Utilize Cerner and 3M/Solventum software for coding and audit processes.

  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to promote coding consistency and accuracy.

  • Demonstrate teamwork and uphold St. Luke’s mission, vision, and values in every task.


Qualifications for the Medical Coding Auditor Role

  • Education: Associate degree in Health Services required.

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of production coding or auditing experience in a healthcare setting.

  • Technical Skills: Expertise in ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, NCCI edits, and APC. Experience with Cerner and 3M/Solventum preferred.

  • Certification: Must hold RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification.

  • Work Type: 100% remote position.
