Job Summary

The Medical Letter Writer is responsible for auditing, editing, composing, and processing adverse determination letters in compliance with healthcare regulations. This role ensures timely communication with providers and members, supporting patient care through clear, accurate, and patient-friendly medical communications.

Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and process denial/adverse determination letters per regulations.

  • Prepare clear, accessible medical letters, reports, and discharge summaries.

  • Ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and proper attachments in all letters.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and cross-functional teams.

  • Use data and feedback to improve medical communications.

  • Manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in English preferred.

Experience

  • 1–2 years of medical writing experience required.

  • 1–2 years of knowledge in utilization management processes (hospital, health center, insurance, or physician office).

Skills

  • Strong command of medical terminology and healthcare practices.

  • Knowledge of privacy laws, compliance, and healthcare regulations.

  • Excellent writing, editing, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to convey complex medical information in simple, patient-friendly language.

  • Strong collaboration and organizational skills.
