Your Impact
As a key part of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional administrative and customer support to ensure a seamless patient experience. Your responsibilities will include:
- Scheduling patient appointments efficiently and accurately.
- Creating and maintaining patient records, ensuring all documentation is complete and up to date.
- Scanning, filing, and organizing patient documents to maintain accurate records.
- Managing incoming phone calls, assisting patients with inquiries and appointment coordination.
- Obtaining insurance authorizations and verifying coverage.
- Providing financial counseling for patients and processing over-the-counter (OTC) payments.
- Conducting daily document research using an electronic health/medical record (EMR) system.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Less than one year of experience in customer service, administration, or a related field.
- Valid driver’s license required (must meet standards outlined in Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures).
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- 1-2 years of experience working with electronic health/medical record (EMR) systems (preferably NextGen and/or OnBase).
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical insurance policies, including coding, billing, and reimbursement procedures.
- Associate’s degree preferred.
- Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.
- Experience using office equipment and software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), email systems, automated billing software, fax machines, calculators, copiers, and postage machines.
- Basic administrative math and accounting skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods.
- Occasional bending or twisting may be required.
- Must be able to talk and hear clearly, both in person and via phone.
- Regular use of hands to operate standard office equipment and reach with arms, including overhead.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
