About Mastery Charter Schools
Mastery Charter Schools and Mastery Schools of Camden are a non-profit network of charter, turnaround, and renaissance schools serving over 14,000 students across grades K-12 in Philadelphia, PA, and Camden, NJ. Our mission is to equip every student with the academic and personal skills necessary for postsecondary success, empowering them to pursue their aspirations.
Mastery has earned national recognition for its success in transforming underperforming neighborhood schools and driving significant student achievement growth. In our turnaround schools, test scores have improved by an average of more than 40 percentage points per grade and subject within three years. Additionally, incidents of violence have decreased by 80%, and student retention rates have significantly improved.
The Opportunity
At Mastery Schools, our Multilingual Programs are founded on the belief that native language skills are a valuable asset that enhance second-language acquisition. With this in mind, students receiving English Language Development (ELD) services are taught both social and instructional language alongside the academic language of Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies at every stage of English proficiency.
Our ESL teachers play a vital role in expanding students’ language skills, increasing their access to the curriculum, and bridging their prior knowledge and experiences into English-instructed classrooms and the broader school environment.
Mastery Schools deeply values the linguistic and cultural diversity that English Learners bring to our community. We strive to integrate their literature, historical perspectives, and backgrounds into our curriculum, school culture, and classroom environment.
Whether you are launching your teaching career or seeking a new opportunity, your passion and expertise will be valued, and your potential for growth and impact will be limitless. We nurture your natural talents and provide the training and support needed to help you become an exceptionally effective teacher. As a member of the Mastery team, you will have the autonomy to make meaningful decisions and will be held accountable for student success. You will thrive in a positive, professional, student-centered workplace where joy and warmth are at the core of our school culture.
