About the Role
Virginia Virtual Academy (VAVA), a Stride K12 partner school, is seeking a passionate and qualified Middle School PE Teacher to deliver engaging, student-centered physical education in an online learning environment. The teacher will guide students toward success by providing high-quality instruction, monitoring progress, and supporting families throughout the learning process.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Duties

Deliver live, synchronous lessons (minimum 15 hours per week).

Prepare students for state standardized tests.

Plan and execute learning activities aligned with state standards.

Assess student progress and maintain accurate records in the K12 system.

Collaborate with colleagues and instructional coaches to improve outcomes.
Student & Family Engagement

Build positive relationships with students and learning coaches.

Provide academic and technical support to families.

Maintain open and timely communication with parents regarding student progress.

Encourage a motivating, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
Administrative & Other Duties

Participate in professional development and training sessions.

Support school activities, virtual clubs, and community events.

Travel to in-person events, including testing and meetings, as required.
Qualifications
Required:

Bachelor’s degree

Valid Middle School PE Teaching Certification

Minimum 6 months of student teaching experience

Ability to clear background checks
Preferred:

Experience teaching online or in traditional classrooms

Knowledge of Canvas, PowerSchool, and Microsoft Office tools

Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
-
Residence in Northern Virginia, Tidewater, Central Virginia, or Northern Neck Region
Work Environment & Schedule

Fully remote role; must maintain a professional home office.

Independent work, typically 40+ hours per week.

Reliable high-speed internet connection required.
