Position Overview: MRI Assistant

Under the guidance of the Chief Technologist and/or Lead Technologist, the MRI Assistant plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the MRI department. This includes assisting technologists and ensuring an efficient and patient-centered workflow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Screen patients and collect relevant medical history prior to their MRI procedure

  • Clearly explain the exam process to patients

  • Assist patients with changing and preparing for their scan

  • Help transport patients in and out of the MRI scan room

  • Aid technologists in proper patient positioning during exams

  • Facilitate patient discharge procedures

  • Ensure patients receive the correct imaging CD when applicable

  • Maintain cleanliness and stock levels in scan rooms and linen closets

  • Greet and assist patients in a professional, courteous manner

  • Support implementation of patient care policies alongside MRI leadership

  • Complete assigned administrative or special projects

  • Manage and respond to department communications

  • Prepare and distribute patient satisfaction surveys

  • Perform additional duties as needed to support departmental operations

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • One to two years of experience in a fast-paced medical or business setting preferred

  • Must be comfortable working with ill, sedated, or inpatient individuals

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

  • Professional appearance and demeanor required

  • Basic proficiency with computer systems and willingness to learn scheduling and word processing software
