Position Overview
The Electrical Trainee role is a field-based position that provides critical support to the Foreman and Electricians on residential solar installation projects. This hands-on role involves assisting with electrical systems, solar battery installations, troubleshooting, and collaborating with the install team to complete projects safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in installing electrical systems connecting solar arrays to residential power grids

  • Support solar battery installations as assigned

  • Help troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues

  • Assemble racking and solar arrays when required

  • Perform trenching, concrete work, and equipment assembly

  • Maintain project site and vehicle cleanliness

  • Uphold OSHA safety standards and Sunrun safety protocols

  • Foster positive teamwork within installation crews and branch staff

  • Travel 100% as required

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Electrical installation experience preferred

  • Certified electrical trainee status (depending on state requirements)

  • Must be 21+ with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record

  • Knowledge of NEC, codes, and electrical standards

  • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a fast-paced team

  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs (100 lbs with assistance), work on rooftops, in attics, crawl spaces, and outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Comfortable using ladders, fall protection, PPE, and working at heights

  • Ability to distinguish colors and follow verbal/written instructions

Compensation

  • Starting wage: $23.30 – $31.06/hr

  • Compensation determined by market and experience
