Network and System Architect Responsibilities

As part of this role, the Network and System Architect will:

  • Collaborate with hotel teams to plan project schedules and IT architecture.

  • Configure and deploy switches, servers, firewalls, WAPs, UPS systems, and backup appliances.

  • Build IP subnets, VLANs, and firewall rules for IPS/IDS and content filtering.

  • Install and manage Windows Server OS (2012–2022), Active Directory, and GPOs.

  • Set up Microsoft 365 tenants, Azure AD, Intune, and virtualization platforms.

  • Implement PCI DSS security compliance, RMM/MDR endpoint protection, and disaster recovery systems.

  • Deploy hotel-specific applications including PMS, POS, and building management systems.

  • Document system designs and network diagrams using Visio.


Skills Needed for a Network and System Architect

A Network and System Architect should have:

  • Strong knowledge of Windows Servers, DNS/DHCP, and Group Policy.

  • Expertise in networking (Layer 2/3, VLANs, routing, TCP/IP, Cisco/HP switches).

  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory, VMware, Hyper-V.

  • Understanding of hotel technologies (Opera PMS, POS, IPTV, PABX, access systems).

  • Knowledge of security compliance (PCI DSS), endpoint security, and antivirus tools.

  • Backup and disaster recovery skills with Datto, Veeam, or similar tools.

  • Ability to produce detailed technical documentation.

  • Familiarity with VoIP, SIP protocols, and unified communications.


Preferred Certifications

  • CompTIA A+, Network+

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

  • ITIL Foundations


Pay and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $72,000 – $80,000 annually (based on skills, certifications, and experience).
