About the Job
Starr Insurance Companies, a global leader in commercial property and casualty insurance, is seeking an Intermediate Network Engineer to join our IT infrastructure team in New York. With operations in 128 countries, Starr offers unmatched industry expertise and global reach.
In this hands-on role, you will support and enhance our enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability across all locations. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of experience in network engineering and a strong background in routing, switching, security, and cloud networking.
Key Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure & Support

Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.

Support LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, and Wi-Fi for enterprise environments.

Monitor network performance and work with ISPs and vendors on connectivity issues.

Contribute to capacity planning and infrastructure upgrades.
Network Security & Compliance

Implement and manage firewall policies, IDS/IPS, and network segmentation.

Ensure compliance with NIST, PCI-DSS, SOC2, and internal security standards.

Conduct vulnerability assessments and assist with remediation efforts.
Cloud & Emerging Technologies

Support cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid infrastructure.

Maintain SD-WAN and secure branch-to-cloud connectivity.

Support unified communications, including VoIP and video conference.
