About the Role
As a Network Engineer Intern with Lumen’s Architecture Engineering & Technology organization, you’ll support the Vyvx team, which delivers world-class video transport solutions across the globe. You’ll collaborate with senior engineers, shadow live operations, and gain practical experience in automation, troubleshooting, and system optimization. This position is fully remote within the continental U.S., running from May 29 to August 7, 2026.
Key Responsibilities

Shadow network engineers and assist with daily operational tasks.

Gain exposure to network devices and automation systems.

Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnostic tasks.

Participate in maintenance windows to learn upgrade procedures.

Collaborate with operations teams to execute traffic migration strategies.
Required Qualifications

Enrolled in a 4-year accredited university with rising senior status by the start of the internship.

Expected graduation between August 2026 and May 2028.

Majoring in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.

Must have U.S. work authorization and availability for the full 10-week program.
Preferred Skills and Technical Knowledge

Linux Administration: Shell scripting (Bash), system tuning, and troubleshooting.

Kubernetes: Cluster setup, scaling, Helm charts, and network policy configuration.

Containerization: Docker image creation, optimization, and registry management.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, or Pulumi.

Cloud Platforms: Exposure to AWS or GCP, GitOps workflows, and CI/CD integration.
Compensation

Hourly Pay Range: $31 – $46 per hour, based on education level, location, and experience.
