Meta’s Edge Network Services (ENS) team is responsible for powering a network that connects billions of users across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. As a Network Engineer, you’ll join a team that automates operations, enhances network reliability, and builds scalable systems for global performance. The Network Engineer role focuses on achieving “Zero Touch Operations” through automation, analytics, and collaboration with cross-functional and vendor teams to ensure smooth, efficient, and secure network operations worldwide.
Network Engineer Operations and Support Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll handle complex global network challenges and drive improvements in operational performance. You’ll lead large-scale incident responses, manage escalations, and work with engineers and vendors to strengthen Meta’s infrastructure. The Network Engineer will analyze system performance, automate routine tasks, and maintain consistent compliance with network standards and security policies.
Key duties include investigating incidents on a global scale, developing automation tools, analyzing metrics for network reliability, and managing third-party partners. You’ll play a key role in root cause analysis, implementing preventive measures, and leading cross-functional initiatives that enhance Meta’s global connectivity and performance.
Qualifications for Network Engineer Operations and Support
To qualify, you should have at least seven years of experience in a Network Operations Center or IT Operations Center. Strong expertise in TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, MPLS, and troubleshooting is essential. Experience with CDN and edge services, network hardware (Cisco, Juniper, etc.), and Linux systems is also required. You should possess hands-on repair experience, automation skills in Python or Go, and the ability to lead global collaboration efforts.
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field—or equivalent experience—is required. Additional experience in data-driven analysis, risk management, and vendor partnership management will be highly valued.
Preferred Skills and Experience for Network Engineer
Candidates with experience in varied infrastructure environments like data centers, cable landing stations, or colocation facilities are preferred. Familiarity with machine learning for predictive analysis, digital transformation projects, vendor relationship management, and operational compliance is advantageous.
Experience in designing and optimizing global network systems, managing supplier negotiations, and executing large-scale infrastructure projects will also strengthen your application.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $133,000 – $190,000 per year + bonus + equity + comprehensive benefits. Compensation varies by experience, qualifications, and location.
