Strategic Staffing Solutions (S3) is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join one of our largest clients for a 12-month contract opportunity. This fully remote role supports a Chicago-based client operating in the Central Time Zone. As a Network Engineer, you’ll help design, implement, and maintain secure, high-performance network infrastructure that enables essential business operations. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment focused on automation, scalability, and reliability while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring consistent network uptime.

Key Details

  • Title: Network Engineer

  • Duration: 12 months (through September 2026)

  • Location: 100% Remote (client based in Chicago, IL – Central Time Zone)

  • Pay Rate: $55–$65/hour (W2 only)

  • Sponsorship: Not available – must be authorized to work in the U.S. full-time


What You’ll Do

  • Monitor data networks for performance, outages, and system alerts; resolve issues quickly to minimize downtime.

  • Test, troubleshoot, and restore network equipment and services to ensure optimal functionality.

  • Plan and implement network configuration changes, upgrades, and preventative maintenance tasks.

  • Manage NOC documentation, process improvements, and vulnerability remediation for network devices.

  • Respond to incidents, lead root-cause analysis, and coordinate with internal and external teams.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to agile ceremonies, demos, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

  • Design high-level network solutions using automation and observability tools.

  • Participate in research and development to adopt new networking technologies.


What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in Network Engineering, DevOps, or Infrastructure roles.

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Cisco Nexus platforms (2k–9k series).

  • Expertise in routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and data center technologies (VPC, VXLAN, VRF, ACI).

  • Experience with DNS, DHCP, NTP, and load balancing technologies like F5 or Citrix NetScaler.

  • Familiarity with QoS, spine-leaf architecture, and virtualized compute environments (UCS, ESX).

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage complex networking initiatives.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNP or CCIE Certification (highly desirable)

  • Experience with compliance, change control, and network security standards

  • Independent problem-solving skills and the ability to work across teams
