Overview
By Light is seeking an experienced HPE/Aruba Network Engineer to design, deploy, and support LAN and WLAN networks for government and enterprise clients across the U.S. This role requires frequent domestic travel and provides hands-on work with multi-vendor network systems, including wireless solutions in classified and non-classified environments. You’ll be part of a team that delivers mission-critical IT solutions, cybersecurity, and network engineering services.
Key Responsibilities
Network Design & Implementation

Design, develop, configure, test, and implement LAN/WLAN solutions for enterprise and government environments.

Conduct technical requirement analysis, system documentation, and develop implementation and operations guides.

Integrate wireless equipment with existing WAN and security infrastructure.

Optimize network performance while ensuring user/device authentication, encryption, and intrusion detection (e.g., 802.1x RADIUS with EAP-TLS).
Support & Troubleshooting

Provide Tier 3 support for LAN/WLAN networks, client devices, and connectivity issues.

Perform installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network hardware and software.

Serve as technical reach-back support for field engineering teams and future site deployments.
Documentation & Compliance

Document installed networks, including systems design, Visio diagrams, and operational guides.

Maintain the security and integrity of wireless hardware and software.

Participate in project meetings, change control processes, and status reporting.
Research & Innovation

Research and evaluate new wireless technologies to optimize network performance.

Collaborate with internal and external teams to implement best practices and resolve network challenges.
Required Skills & Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree, AS/AA degree, or relevant technical training with 2–5 years of experience; or HS/GED with 5+ years of targeted experience in network/wireless communications.

Minimum 2–5 years of experience in wireless and network communications.

Security+ / DoD 8140 IAT-I certification (required within 3 months of hire).

Current HPE/Aruba Professional-level certification in at least one of the following:

Campus Access

Data Center

Switching

Network Security

ClearPass
-
Aruba Certified Switch Professional (ACSP)

Familiarity with survey analysis tools and Aruba AirWave management platform.

Strong knowledge of DNS and DHCP functions.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Visio.

Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and communicate daily updates to managers.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate with internal and external teams.

Must possess or be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.

Physical capability to stand, stoop, walk, climb ladders, and lift up to 35 lbs.
Desired Certifications
