Job Summary
Merit Controls is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join our Service Department, supporting renewable energy projects across small to large-scale sites. This role acts as the key technical point of contact for customers, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex network issues efficiently within SLA requirements. You will work closely with internal engineering teams, customers, O&M providers, and asset management teams to optimize network performance and contribute to our industry-leading SCADA, Controls, Network, and Data Analytics platform.


Key Responsibilities

  • Execute network integration and implementation for renewable energy sites.

  • Support network architecture and design using Cisco, Hirschmann, and Palo Alto products.

  • Develop and maintain network documentation, including architecture diagrams, IP schemas, and configuration standards.

  • Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, IDS, DNS, DHCP, SDN, and network segmentation.

  • Troubleshoot complex network issues and provide remote or onsite support as needed.

  • Guide fiber optic network design, installation, and commissioning.

  • Manage remote connectivity between Azure or AWS environments and field sites (VPN/IPSEC).

  • Ensure adherence to cybersecurity and compliance policies.

  • Support secure customer portal connectivity to Azure-hosted site data.

  • Track, report, and optimize recurring network service costs.

  • Assist in pre-sales scoping and pricing of industrial networking opportunities.


Required Skills & Experience

  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience in network design, configuration, and troubleshooting.

  • Experience supporting Cisco or Palo Alto network infrastructure.

  • Working knowledge of cloud environments such as Azure or AWS.

  • Familiarity with VLANs, routing protocols, and network segmentation.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
