Overview

Join our IT team as a Network Engineer and grow in a thriving, collaborative environment. You will play a key role in supporting corporate headquarters, data centers, and control centers, ensuring the reliability and security of LAN/WAN networks, Cisco wireless systems, and VLANs across 100 sites in NYC and Westchester.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and transition new sites within Consolidated Edison & Orange and Rockland Utility areas

  • Provide network support for Wireless, WAN, LAN, and monitoring systems

  • Apply knowledge of OSI layers 1–3 and higher to guide troubleshooting and escalation

  • Follow designs from Solutions Architects with precision and attention to detail

  • Maintain and improve network management/monitoring tools to automate processes

  • Serve as SME in setting hardware/software standards through disciplined validation

  • Create and maintain network documentation, diagrams, policies, and procedures

  • Assist in budgeting for projects/programs

  • Work flexible hours, including off-hours for deployments, emergency response, or issue resolution

Required Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in IT/CS/Engineering + 2 years IT experience, OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree + 3 years IT experience, OR

  • Associate’s Degree + 5 years IT experience, OR

  • High School Diploma/GED + 7 years IT experience

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of reliable, scalable architectural concepts

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles

  • Hands-on with Cisco IOS routers, switches, wireless APs, NX-OS datacenter switches

  • Proficient in BGP, IGP (EIGRP, OSPF, 802.1q)

  • Able to draw complex network diagrams

  • Skilled in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and Cisco CLI configuration/upgrades

  • Experience with network monitoring & packet analysis tools

Preferred Skills:

  • CCNA, CCNP certifications

  • Experience with BMC Truesight, Netbrain, DHCP, InfoBlox, Cisco Smart Software Manager

  • Knowledge of PowerShell, Java, XML, Git, Azure DevOps

  • Network automation/scripting experience

Additional Requirements

  • Driver’s License required

  • PMP or other project management certifications preferred

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, stand/sit for extended periods, and perform physical tasks as needed

  • Willingness to travel within company service territory

  • Must participate in emergency management and storm plans

  • Must wear PPE as required
