About the Job: Senior Network Engineer – R&D Environments
Meta’s Network and Infrastructure Services (NIS) team is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to design, deploy, and manage secure network infrastructure across Meta’s global engineering labs. This role focuses on innovating and scaling network solutions in a fast-evolving environment, offering a unique opportunity to shape next-generation networking technologies.
Key Responsibilities:

Design, deploy, and manage secure network infrastructure in R&D labs

Lead core security initiatives including proxy migration, IEEE 802.1X validation, Radius implementation, and vulnerability management

Support internal teams by designing networks to test and validate new products
-
Perform network maintenance, upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning
-
Develop automation tools to enhance lab operations
-
Troubleshoot network issues using packet capture tools like Wireshark
-
Create operational procedures (MOPs) for vendors
-
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, project managers, and partners
-
Travel approximately 10% to support partnerships and deployments
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience (degree must be completed before joining)

4+ years of experience designing, deploying, and managing large-scale networks
-
Strong knowledge of network security appliances, firewalls, VPNs, and multi-factor authentication
-
Expertise in IPv4/IPv6, Layer 2/3 protocols (STP, OSPF, BGP), TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLAN, VRRP, LACP, MC-LAG, EVPN with VXLAN, and ACLs

Experience with multi-vendor environments and wireless/backhaul networking hardware

Proven ability to work independently in global teams

Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or shell scripting
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience evaluating new vendor platforms and in-house network projects

Certifications like CCNP, JNCIP, CISSP, or CCIE
-
Project lifecycle management experience

Familiarity with network traffic generators, impairment tools, and protocol analyzers

Start-up or technical infrastructure experience
