Healey, an entrepreneur with a passion for engineering, had strong financial ties to the railway industry and counted Robert Stephenson and Isambard Kingdom Brunel among his associates.
The magazine’s editorial team is led by Jon Excell, who has been with The Engineer for over 15 years. Supporting him are news editor Jason Ford, features editor Stuart Nathan, and senior reporter Andrew Wade.

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about maintaining critical systems and ensuring the integrity and security of network infrastructure.
π Location: Bristol, Stevenage, or Bolton
π° Salary: Up to Β£55,000 (depending on experience)
π Hybrid Working: 2β3 days on-site per week (subject to business needs)
π Security Clearance: British Citizen (DV Clearance required)

The Role
As a Network Engineer, you will play a key role in managing, maintaining, and upgrading our network solutions to ensure reliability and security against evolving threats. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement secure changes, manage network incidents, identify vulnerabilities, and maintain compliance with industry best practices.

What Weβre Looking For
πΉ Strong understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, VLANs, load balancing)
πΉ Hands-on experience configuring and maintaining routers and switches (e.g., Cisco)
πΉ Solid knowledge of network protocols (TCP, UDP, IPSec, SSL/TLS)
πΉ Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center (DNAC) is a plus
πΉ Understanding of network architectures and security zones (DMZ, internal networks)
πΉ Proficiency in network monitoring technologies (e.g., PRTG, Nagios)
