About the Role:
Meta’s Communications Systems & Ecosystems team is seeking a Network Systems Engineer to help optimize how Meta’s products perform over third-party networks (CSPs). You’ll work on improving the user experience of apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook by optimizing network performance and collaborating with internal teams and external telecom partners.
Key Responsibilities:

Analyze and enhance Meta app performance across a wide range of CSP network conditions (fiber, 5G, Wi-Fi, satellite, etc.)

Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions

Conduct competitive benchmarking and real-world testing of video and real-time communication apps

Prototype improvements through data analysis, simulation, and software modifications

Support external partnerships with telecom providers through technical assessments and solution development
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

Strong knowledge of networking protocols and wireless technologies (Wi-Fi, cellular)

Experience in big data analytics and automation
-
Skilled in performance optimization, prototyping, and simulation

Proficient in Python, C/C++, Matlab, or ns-3
-
MS or PhD with at least 4 years of relevant industry experience
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with packet analyzers and network debugging tools

Understanding of WebRTC, QUIC, HTTP/2

Firmware/software development experience

Background in machine learning
