Northwestern Medicine is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and collaborative Registered Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team in an OBGYN clinical setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, clinical expertise, and sound judgment to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. This part-time Nurse Clinician will assess patient needs both in person and by phone, implement appropriate nursing interventions, and serve as a key resource in patient education and clinical operations.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide Direct Nursing Care:
Deliver pre-attending care, perform comprehensive assessments, and execute nursing interventions aligned with patient needs and physician direction. Document all findings clearly and accurately in the patient’s medical record. -
Ensure Workplace Safety:
Maintain a clean, compliant work environment by adhering to OSHA regulations. Promptly report and assist in correcting any deficiencies or equipment issues. -
Perform Clinical Procedures:
Carry out routine and advanced nursing tasks, including phlebotomy, medication administration, vital sign collection, and specimen processing. Demonstrate competency in complex procedures such as chemotherapy administration, conscious sedation, and implantable device management. -
Interpret Results and Respond:
Identify abnormal findings from tests or procedures and initiate appropriate responses or escalate as needed. Maintain thorough and timely documentation. -
Collaborate Across Teams:
Coordinate care with clinical and administrative teams, both internally and externally. Serve as a liaison with outside agencies when necessary. -
Triage Calls and Manage Emergencies:
Evaluate incoming calls, prioritize patient needs, and manage urgent/emergency situations following clinical protocols. Operate emergency equipment as required. -
Provide Education and Support:
Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medication use, and condition management. Support staff learning and participate in community health outreach or patient education initiatives. -
Leadership and Delegation:
Guide and support Licensed Practical Nurses and Medical Assistants. Promote best practices in nursing and suggest process improvements to enhance the patient experience.
Qualifications:
Required:

Associate’s Degree in Nursing

Graduate of an accredited nursing program

Active RN license in the State of Illinois

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in acute or ambulatory care settings
Preferred:

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (may be required for specific roles)
