Position Overview

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at CPMC Van Ness, you will play an essential role in delivering basic nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role supports a diverse patient population in an acute care setting, requiring strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care as delegated by nursing staff

  • Assist with daily living activities including hygiene, mobility, and feeding

  • Observe and report changes in patient condition to nursing team

  • Maintain patient comfort and safety

  • Support hospital protocols and uphold high standards of patient-centered care


Required Qualifications

  • Education:

    • High School Diploma or GED

    • Completion of a Hospital Assistant program or equivalent training (e.g., nursing student)

  • Licensure/Certifications:

    • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification

    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers


Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience as a CNA in an acute care hospital

  • Nursing students are encouraged to apply

  • Union Position: Yes

  • Non-Exempt Status: Eligible for overtime

  • Weekly Hours: 0 (Per Diem/Flex as needed)

  • Benefits: This is a non-benefited position

  • Hazardous Drug Handling: May involve exposure to hazardous drugs per NIOSH and USP 800 guidelines
