Job Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal and oral hygiene.

  • Prepare patients for meals and snacks; assist with feeding when needed.

  • Support the healthcare team in physical and psychological assessments.

  • Accurately measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure), height, weight, fluid intake/output, and bowel movements.

  • Collect patient specimens such as urine, feces, and sputum, as required.

  • Promptly report any changes in patient condition, treatment responses, or concerns from patients or families to the registered nurse.

  • Under the supervision of a registered nurse, perform designated diagnostic tests and treatments including, but not limited to:

    • Applying basic dressings

    • Discontinuing peripheral IV therapy

    • Applying electrodes and performing EKGs

    • Obtaining and reporting blood glucose readings

    • Assisting with Foley catheter insertions

    • Cleaning pressure injuries

    • Applying buck’s traction

    • Assisting with toileting and other elimination needs

  • Participate in maintaining a safe environment for patients:

    • Respond to call bells and emergency signals

    • Recognize and report unsafe conditions

    • Utilize safety equipment such as side rails, restraints, and gerichairs properly

    • Transport patients as needed

    • Respond to fire alarms, evacuations, and emergency drills

  • Function efficiently within the healthcare team:

    • Accept and clarify assignments

    • Report patient care observations regularly to the RN

    • Support nursing staff by taking on additional responsibilities

    • Stay current with in-service education to maintain clinical competence

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Completion of a state-approved Nursing Assistant program

  • Heart Saver Certification preferred

  • Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on patient care experience

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

The listed salary range or hourly rate reflects a good faith estimate of potential base pay at the time of job posting. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to: location, specialty, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, internal equity, and budget considerations.
