Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating and treating patients within the scope of Occupational Therapy, developing personalized treatment plans, and setting achievable goals. This role may include overseeing therapy assistants, aides, and students while ensuring the highest quality of patient care. Working as part of a collaborative healthcare team, the Occupational Therapist plays a vital role in achieving optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate assigned patients, utilizing medical records, interviews, observations, and team input to develop a comprehensive treatment plan and establish goals.
  • Implement and adjust treatment plans as needed to address patients’ evolving needs.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in compliance with state licensure, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate seamless and continuous patient care. Serve as a liaison between nursing, medical staff, and therapy teams, providing education and support as needed.
  • Provide mentorship and supervision to new team members, occupational therapy assistants, and therapy aides. Offer clinical instruction and guidance to students in training.
  • Contribute to program development, quality improvement initiatives, and monitoring activities.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and participate in occupational therapy student affiliation programs.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program (Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education).
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist is preferred.
  • Licensure & Certification:
    • Required: Occupational Therapist License (State of Washington).
    • Required upon hire: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from either the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
