The Occupational Therapist is responsible for planning and providing occupational therapy for patients with temporary or permanent disabilities, in line with professional and MLH standards. This role also models behavior that aligns with the MLH Mission, Vision, and Values.

Job Overview:
The Occupational Therapist plans and provides therapy for patients with temporary or permanent disabilities in accordance with professional and MLH standards of treatment. This role also exemplifies the core values of MLH Mission, Vision, and Values.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform initial patient assessments.

Implement patient treatments based on the assessment and treatment plan.

Conduct ongoing patient assessments through observation and record-keeping.

Identify specific rehabilitation learning needs and provide appropriate education to patients.

Demonstrate initiative in identifying opportunities for self-development and professional growth.
Education and Training:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
Work Experience:
-
No prior work experience required.
Licenses and Certifications:
-
Occupational Therapist certification from the Tennessee Board of Occupational Therapy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-
Ability to prepare moderately complex written materials, such as patient records.

Strong communication skills to interact with associates, physicians, and outside professionals.

Ability to work independently, make decisions, and organize multiple tasks.

Capable of maintaining control of workflow and managing projects.
Supervision:
-
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance to therapy assistants.
Physical Demands:

Requires activities like climbing, standing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, and repetitive motion.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs frequently.

Requires close visual acuity for tasks such as assessing patients, preparing data, and viewing computer screens.

Frequent patient contact and exposure to body fluids and hazardous materials.

Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
