About the Job
Join a dedicated team of skilled physical therapists and assistants in a dynamic role that supports both inpatient and outpatient care, with a focus on our wound care clinic. This role combines clerical duties, equipment maintenance, safety support, and direct patient care. Occasional responsibilities will include assisting the broader inpatient therapy team with non-wound care needs such as supply stocking, equipment cleaning, and general patient support. While experience is preferred, comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.

Position Summary
Deliver occupational therapy services to support the rehabilitation of individuals recovering from illness, injury, or surgery. Use targeted therapy to improve function, promote independence, and enhance patient quality of life. Patient populations may range from neonates to geriatrics. This position supports the hospital’s mission through safe, compassionate, and culturally competent care.
Key Responsibilities

Perform initial patient assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.

Deliver therapy using sensorimotor, educational, and social activities.

Educate patients and families on therapy techniques and progress.

Fit and design adaptive equipment as needed.

Maintain therapy tools and equipment, including cleaning and minor repairs.

Document patient progress and manage billing information.

Support training of therapy students and assist in staff development.

Foster strong working relationships with staff, patients, and families.

Monitor safety conditions and report potential hazards or concerns.
Qualifications
Education:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (required)
Experience:
-
1 year of directly related experience preferred
-
Bilingual ability in English and Spanish or a Native New Mexico language (Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo) is a plus
Licensure/Certifications:
-
New Mexico Occupational Therapist License or Temporary License (required)

CPR for Healthcare Providers/BLS (required within 30 days of hire)
Physical Requirements

Must be able to exert 50–100 lbs occasionally, 25–50 lbs frequently, and 10–20 lbs constantly.

Position requires heavy lifting and physical endurance beyond medium work classification.
