Position Summary
Maia is seeking an experienced Contract Medical Coder to join its growing team. This role focuses on accurately coding orthopedic surgical procedures and evaluation & management (E&M) visits using CPT and ICD-10 codes. The coder will ensure compliance with current coding guidelines, review documentation for completeness, and collaborate with clinical and product teams to enhance coding accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities

Review operative and clinic notes to ensure accurate coding and documentation.

Assign CPT, ICD-10, and modifier codes according to current standards and payer requirements.

Identify and communicate documentation improvement opportunities to physicians and staff.

Collaborate with clinical and product teams to develop actionable, clinically relevant coding recommendations.

Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain strict confidentiality of all medical information.
Qualifications

Certified as a CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), or equivalent.

Minimum 2 years of experience in coding for orthopedic or surgical specialties.

Strong command of CPT, ICD-10, and modifier application.

Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote, contract-based environment.
