About the Role
Concord College is seeking a passionate and experienced Outdoor Education and Sport Assistant to support and deliver an exciting programme of outdoor education and sporting activities. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in active, student-facing environments and has a strong background in adventure, outdoor learning, and youth development.
Working closely with the Outdoor Education Lead and wider co-curricular teams, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality Outdoor Education sessions, residential trips, and supporting students through the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme. You will also help deliver weekly sporting and extracurricular programmes, including the Wednesday afternoon sports sessions, weekend trips, and other off-site activities.

Key Responsibilities

Support the delivery of Concord’s Outdoor Education Programme, including sessions, residentials, and DofE

Help ensure the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is delivered in line with licensing terms and standards

Assist in planning and leading extra-curricular sporting and outdoor events, including school trips

Work directly with students to develop leadership, problem-solving, and resilience through physical challenges

Collaborate with teaching and support staff to maintain high standards of safeguarding, safety, and student welfare

Be available for overnight stays during residential activities or extended trips

Uphold the college’s values of excellence, respect, and integrity in all aspects of the role
About You – Essential Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience in outdoor/adventure activities such as:
-
Mountain leading, rock climbing, canoeing, SUP or kayaking

A relevant sports coaching qualification

A full, clean driving licence

An Outdoor First Aid qualification (or willingness to work towards one)

Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and a proactive, flexible attitude

A genuine passion for helping young people grow through outdoor learning
Desirable:

Experience supporting or delivering the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
