Mercy West Outpatient Therapy is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled full-time Occupational Therapist who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care.

As a leader in evidence-based orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation, our outpatient therapy model emphasizes impairment-focused, hands-on, one-on-one treatment. Therapists are trained in the most advanced techniques, ensuring top-tier care. The Occupational Therapy team at West Hospital primarily serves patients with orthopedic, neurological, cognitive, and hand-related conditions. Our integrated, multidisciplinary team includes Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists, fostering collaborative and comprehensive care.

Position Summary:

The Occupational Therapist plays a key role in helping patients regain and improve the skills necessary for daily living and work activities. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, developing individualized treatment plans based on physician referrals, and documenting patient progress. Care may be provided in outpatient, inpatient, pediatric, and off-site settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review referrals and medical records to assess therapy needs.

  • Conduct evaluations and re-evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans.

  • Deliver prescribed occupational therapy interventions and, when appropriate, create adaptive equipment.

  • Design programs to enhance motor skills, functional abilities, and daily living skills.

  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed; participate in patient care conferences.

  • Educate patients and families on treatment techniques to be used at home.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)

Licensing & Certifications:

  • Licensed Occupational Therapist in the applicable state, or qualified for temporary licensing/traineeship (required)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – preferred upon hire, required within 30 days (for BSMH); required at time of hire (for RSFH)

Experience:

  • 2 years of experience in a comparable clinical setting (preferred)

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficient in age-appropriate standards for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric care

  • General computer proficiency (e.g., data entry, documentation, email)

  • Strong analytical skills to assess patient progress

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with diverse teams and patient populations

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
