Job Overview
FedEx Freight is hiring Part-Time Package Handlers to support daily freight operations in a fast-paced dock environment in Odessa, Texas. You’ll work hands-on with shipments, equipment, and logistics teams to move and secure freight safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities

Transport freight to/from trailers across the dock

Operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks

Verify freight documentation (weight, type, hazardous materials, etc.)

Secure freight using ropes, straps, pallets, and other tools
-
Repair/recoup damaged freight when needed
-
Complete required documentation and reports
-
Assist customers with freight and paperwork
-
Perform hostling duties if required
-
Follow all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws

Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
-
Minimum age: 18 years

Preferred experience in:
-
Warehouse/freight handling
-
Forklift operations
-
Hostler/yard mule duties
-
-
Basic math and communication skills
-
Ability to lift/carry heavy freight and handle dock plates (up to 100 lbs)

Capable of frequent bending, twisting, squatting, pushing/pulling

Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Prior dock/warehouse experience preferred
Working Conditions

Dock environment with exposure to varied weather, dust, fumes, and noise

Fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment

Hours may vary based on operational needs

Regular interaction with service center staff
