Position Summary
The Part-Time Middle School After-School Counselor plays a key role in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for students. Counselors provide academic support, oversee daily after-school programming, and act as positive role models in alignment with Hewitt’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities

Supervise middle school students enrolled in the after-school program (3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, school days only).

Foster a supportive and productive environment; assist students with homework when needed.

Communicate effectively with administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, and caregivers.

Manage student attendance, dismissal records, and program supervision.

Dismiss students to authorized adults, ensuring safety and accountability.

Respond calmly and professionally to emergencies while keeping all stakeholders informed.
Qualifications
Required:

Demonstrated commitment to anti-bias education and social justice.

Experience supervising middle school students and serving as a positive role model.

Dependable and reliable with strong communication skills.

Proficiency with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail).
Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree.

Proficiency with Mac platforms and comfort with technology.

Interest in the social-emotional and cognitive development of middle school students.
