We are hiring a Patient Account Representative (Medical Billing & Reimbursement) for a fully remote, full-time position. As a Patient Account Representative, you will manage billing, collections, insurance verification, and reimbursement processes to ensure accurate and timely payments. This 8+ month contract offers $18 per hour and a Monday–Friday schedule (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST). Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and experienced in healthcare billing, insurance procedures, and customer service.
Patient Account Representative Responsibilities
As a Patient Account Representative, you’ll serve as an institutional expert in insurance and reimbursement processes for durable medical equipment and related business lines.
Key Duties Include:

Handle all billing and collection activities across designated business lines.

Verify insurance coverage, obtain pre-certifications, and determine patient financial responsibility.

Prepare and submit accurate claims to insurance providers.

Review denied claims, manage appeals, and oversee rebilling processes.

Communicate with patients and internal teams (physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and staff) to resolve billing issues.

Interpret and apply institutional financial policies to ensure proper reimbursement.

Manage accounts receivable and maintain detailed documentation of account activity.

Deliver excellent customer service in all communications, written and verbal.
Patient Account Representative Qualifications
To qualify for the Patient Account Representative role, candidates should possess strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED with 3+ years of experience in medical or durable medical equipment billing and collections
OR an Associate degree in finance, business, or healthcare with 1+ year of experience in billing and reimbursement. -
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and general Windows-based software.
