Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is seeking a motivated Payables Officer to join our Finance team in Birmingham on a 12-month fixed-term contract. As a Payables Officer, you’ll play a vital role in processing timely and accurate payments to national and international vendors while ensuring smooth maintenance of accounts payable records. The Payables Officer will be responsible for managing high volumes of transactions, vendor payments, and maintaining accurate financial records to support IRW’s mission.
Key Responsibilities for Payables Officer

Process high-volume vendor payments accurately and on time.

Perform accounts payable tasks including expense claims and reconciliations.

Maintain financial systems and assist with accounting software operations.

Ensure strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
What You’ll Need as a Payables Officer

Proven experience in high-volume transaction processing within a finance department.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and accounting software.

Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-focused environment while meeting deadlines.

Experience with Unit 4/Agresso software is desirable.
