Payroll Specialist – Job Summary
Gritman Medical Center is looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for processing payroll, maintaining accurate employee records, and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations across the Gritman Medical network.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update employee records, including compensation, benefits, and personnel details.
- Perform payroll system upgrades and updates as necessary.
- Manage and update time clock systems.
- Review payroll reports for accuracy and resolve discrepancies with department leaders.
- Calculate tax deductions, benefits, and adjustments for payroll changes.
- Ensure accurate employee pay history for W-2 processing.
- Process and distribute W-2s while handling federal and state filings.
- Prepare and submit federal and state tax documents on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Assist with monthly financial closing by preparing and reconciling assigned accounts.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions as required.
- Perform additional finance-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- No specific educational requirements, but coursework or a degree in business or a related field is preferred.
Experience
- Experience with payroll systems, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word is required.
- Knowledge of tax codes is essential.
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally lift/carry up to 30 lbs.
- Occasionally push/pull up to 20 lbs. (e.g., filing cabinets, office equipment).
- Occasionally climb stairs, stoop, kneel, or crouch to access files.
- Frequent use of hands for paperwork, phone, and computer tasks.
- Continuous verbal, auditory, and visual engagement for effective communication.
