Job Overview

Fortune Brands Innovations is looking for a detail-driven and highly organized Workday Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic payroll team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in payroll processing, accounting fundamentals, and federal/state tax regulations, with specific expertise using the Workday platform.

This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate payroll execution, financial reconciliation, and compliance. You’ll collaborate across departments to support payroll processing, manage general ledger entries, and handle financial reporting related to payroll.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process inputs and payments for weekly or biweekly payroll cycles using the Workday system

  • Reconcile payroll tax submissions through ADP Smart Compliance and resolve any discrepancies

  • Manage weekly third-party funding integrations, reconciling variances in net pay, taxes, garnishments, and other deductions

  • Administer payroll for highly compensated employees, including processing of equity compensation, non-qualified plans, and executive perks while ensuring compliance with tax obligations

  • Analyze payroll-related financial data (e.g., wages, taxes, benefits, liabilities) to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement

  • Identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and regulatory compliance

  • Participate in cross-functional projects, including integration efforts related to mergers and acquisitions

  • Support the development and implementation of new payroll processes, procedures, and systems based on business needs, legal changes, and strategic initiatives


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience processing multi-state payroll using Workday

  • Familiarity with time and attendance systems (experience with UKG Workforce Management is a plus)

  • Solid knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and compliance requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including v-lookups and pivot tables) and Microsoft Word

  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy

  • Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills (both written and verbal)


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $50,000 – $60,000 USD (Actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, and location)
