Summary / Objective
The HR Specialist, Payroll & HRIS plays an essential role on the Human Resources team, managing data entry, updates, integrations, reporting, and payroll processing for both U.S. and Canadian operations. This position ensures the highest standards of confidentiality and data accuracy, while serving as a key liaison between HR and other departments. The data maintained and insights provided by this role are critical to supporting HR and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities

Administer bi-weekly payroll for employees in the U.S. and Canada, including:

Updating payroll-related employee data

Reconciling with general ledger and 401(k) contributions

Processing garnishments and deductions
-
Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations

Communicating payroll-related updates to management
-

Maintain and update employee records within the HRIS/Payroll system

Generate ad hoc and standardized reports with key employee data

Provide functional and technical support for HRIS systems—identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues, and recommend improvements

Collaborate with HR colleagues in benefits, onboarding, training, and talent development to support team objectives

Identify and implement opportunities for process automation, data validation, and employee self-service features

Address system integration issues, particularly those related to benefits and 401(k) vendors

Complete employment verifications, respond to tax notices, and manage other HR-related documentation

Maintain records related to life events, leaves of absence, terminations, offer letters, and onboarding processes

Evaluate current payroll and HR data practices and recommend process improvements aligned with best practices

Conduct data audits to ensure the integrity and accuracy of HR information

Provide training and support to system users and respond to HRIS-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience

Experience: 2–3 years in HRIS and payroll administration

Experience with Paylocity is strongly preferred

Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and reporting tools

Demonstrated ability to manage confidential data with precision and care

Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and collaborate across teams
