Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist responsible for processing company payroll with precision and efficiency. This role ensures accurate wage calculations, tax withholdings, and deductions while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll transactions, including wages, commissions, bonuses, tax withholdings, and deductions.
- Generate and review payroll reports related to paychecks, vacation and sick leave, disability, and workers’ compensation.
- Maintain payroll records, ledgers, and employee files.
- Oversee bi-weekly and monthly payroll accounting functions.
- Manage garnishments and special payroll deductions.
- Ensure timely and accurate payroll tax filings.
- Prepare audit reports, verify data accuracy, and conduct post-payroll audits.
- Handle bank transactions such as stop payments, direct deposit recalls, and check inquiries.
- Ensure correct setup of state tax codes for employees.
- Maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other regulations.
- Document payroll procedures and train department staff as needed.
- Troubleshoot payroll and timekeeping system issues.
- Interpret and enforce pay policies related to leave, disability, workers’ compensation, and taxation.
- Stay updated on changes in federal and state payroll laws.
- Support payroll-related projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 3+ years of payroll administration experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing best practices and regulations.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accurate data entry skills.
- Ability to handle confidential employee and company information with discretion.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Works well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation
- Salary: $52,900 – $71,400
