PB Coding Coordinator

About the Role

Intermountain Health is seeking an experienced Professional Fee Coder to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for accurately reviewing medical documentation, resolving coding edits, and assigning CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 codes, and modifiers within Epic. You will play a key role in ensuring coding accuracy, compliance, and reimbursement integrity, while also supporting provider education and workflow improvements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Navigate Epic EMR work queues, including charge review, claim edits, and follow-up.

  • Review medical record documentation and assign appropriate CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and modifiers.

  • Apply coding bundling guidelines and evaluate proper modifier usage.

  • Ensure compliance with the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule and coding regulations.

  • Communicate coding and denial trends, and provide education opportunities to providers and coders.

  • Conduct quality assurance audits within specialty areas.

  • Develop tip sheets, workflows, and training materials to improve accuracy and efficiency.

  • Respond to coding requests and inquiries with evidence-based guidance.

  • Collaborate with providers and leadership to resolve coding-related issues.


Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum 5 years of pro fee coding experience (with at least 3 years in a specialty service line).

  • Current CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based) credential.

  • Experience with E/M coding and specialty-specific coding.

  • Prior experience with Epic Resolute PB and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred:

  • 7+ years of coding experience.

  • Specialty coding credential.


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding.

  • Ability to evaluate documentation for accuracy and compliance.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Physical Requirements

  • Frequent use of computers, monitors, and office equipment.

  • Ability to read documents, labels, and reports accurately.

  • Frequent verbal communication with providers, colleagues, and patients.
