Position Summary

We are now accepting applications for the 2025–2026 school year. Certified Special Education Substitute Teachers will support students in Pennsylvania from a secure, distraction-free home office. Using phone, internet, and online curriculum tools, you will collaborate with students, Learning Coaches, and school staff to help ensure each child successfully completes their instructional program.

Assignments range from short-term to long-term placements (2–20 weeks, averaging 8–12 weeks). This is a part-time position and does not include benefits.

Responsibilities

When assigned, you will be available Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. ET to:

  • Communicate with parents, students, and school staff regarding individualized learning plans.

  • Grade assignments, generate progress reports, and conduct parent-teacher conferences.

  • Deliver instruction through live and recorded online sessions (LiveLessons).

  • Adapt strategies to meet student needs outlined in IEPs and 504 plans.

  • Collaborate with general educators, counselors, and service providers to implement accommodations.

  • Track IEP goal progress, maintain compliance documentation, and attend IEP meetings.

  • Keep accurate student records, including attendance and progress.

  • Stay engaged between assignments by checking email for updates, attending monthly supervisor meetings, and completing professional learning.

Requirements

  • Active Pennsylvania teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement (required).

  • Additional certifications (Elementary, Math, Science, English, Social Studies) preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.

  • Dedicated, distraction-free home office environment.

  • Availability during school hours (8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. ET).

  • Strong knowledge of IEPs/504s and experience implementing them.

  • Excellent written/oral communication and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency with technology (LMS, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).

  • High-speed internet and PC (Microsoft OS and Office required).

  • Must arrange alternate caregiving during school hours.

  • Cannot work another job during assigned school hours.

  • Completion of orientation/training within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.

  • Occasional evening availability to support families.

  • Ability to use personal device/email for two-step authentication.
