Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:

Review prescription orders to ensure accuracy and appropriateness for individual patients.

Advise on the correct dosage and form of medications.

Provide clinical drug information to medical staff, nursing staff, and students.

Participate in drug selection decisions when necessary.

Monitor patient records to ensure the safety and efficiency of drug therapy.

Compound prescriptions and intravenous drug mixtures.

Dispense medications using industry-standard pharmaceutical techniques.

Participate in ward rounds, take patient drug histories, and contribute to treatment decisions.

Consult with medical staff regarding potential medication-related issues for patients.

Oversee drug inventory management, including supplies and floor stock.

Ensure proper storage and security of medications.

Prepare and quality-check IV sterile compound preparations.

Ensure accurate preparation of patient charge documents.

May participate in the cardiac resuscitation team.

Supervise Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Clerks, and Pharmacy Interns.

Participate in teaching pharmacy students, where applicable.

Prepare and present clinical conferences on drugs in use for nursing staff.

Stay engaged in professional association activities and maintain memberships.

Adhere to departmental policies and procedures.

Assist in the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines as needed.
