About the Role
Mission Community Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Per Diem Pharmacist to join our team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, effective, and compliant pharmaceutical care for our patients. Working under the highest professional and regulatory standards, the Pharmacist will oversee medication distribution, provide clinical guidance, and support education for both patients and healthcare professionals.
This is a per diem role specifically designed to cover evening and weekend shifts, offering flexibility along with an opportunity to contribute meaningfully in a hospital setting.

Competitive base salary ranging from $113,000 to $148,000 annually (Glassdoor estimate)

Key Responsibilities
As a Pharmacist at Mission Community Hospital, your core duties will include:

Ensuring the accurate, safe, and timely preparation and distribution of medications
-
Reviewing and verifying prescriptions to prevent errors and ensure optimal patient outcomes

Maintaining accurate records related to dispensing, inventory, and controlled substances
-
Compounding and preparing medications, including sterile admixtures and bulk packaging

Monitoring and maintaining drug inventory levels to support uninterrupted patient care

Providing patient education and counseling on medication usage, side effects, and safety

Offering clinical expertise to physicians and nursing staff regarding drug therapies and treatment plans

Ensuring strict adherence to state and federal regulations, as well as USP standards

Maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy environment
Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)

Current and valid Pharmacist license issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital pharmacy setting

Comprehensive knowledge of:

USP Chapters and pharmaceutical standards

State and federal laws governing pharmacy practice

Safety protocols related to medication handling and preparation

Proficiency with pharmacy information systems and automated dispensing technologies
