Essential Functions
Note: The following duties outline the primary responsibilities of this role but are not exhaustive. Incumbents may perform most or all of these tasks, and additional duties may be assigned based on organizational needs and supervisor direction.

Review all patient medication orders for clinical appropriateness and complete inpatient unit order entry as needed.

Oversee the dispensing, ordering, and restocking of medications for the inpatient hospice unit where applicable, including final verification of all patient-specific medication orders to ensure accuracy.

Verify and review deliveries from third-party shipping vendors and pharmacy couriers before shipment.

Support staff in meeting established performance goals, emphasizing the minimization and reduction of errors in dispensing, data entry, and restocking.

Maintain excellent customer service standards and foster strong client relationships.

Develop and maintain practice documentation to support training and onboarding of new employees.

Manage inventory according to financial and strategic guidelines, overseeing replenishment and ordering of pharmacy supplies in collaboration with the Lead Technician, including hospice inpatient and dispense machine inventories where applicable.

Assist the Pharmacy Manager with routine formulary and inventory reviews for inpatient units.

Coordinate efficient inventory management of labels, vials, and other necessary supplies.

Ensure proper maintenance and coordination of departmental equipment.

Provide mediation support in staff conflicts upon request by the Pharmacy Manager.

Promote and sustain a positive and collaborative work culture.

Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.
Additional Responsibilities

Protect the company’s intellectual property and safeguard the privacy of customers’ and patients’ data.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory or managerial duties.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Education, Licensure, or Certification:
-
Licensed Pharmacist (RPh) required; Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred.

Active pharmacy license in the state of practice.

Willingness to obtain additional pharmacy licenses in other states as needed.
Experience:
-
Experience in long-term care (LTC) dispensing pharmacy required.
-
Hospice and palliative care experience preferred.
-
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in varied settings is an advantage.
Specialized Skills:

Proficiency in equianalgesic dosing, generic and therapeutic substitution, formulary management, and prior authorization processes.

Strong understanding and adherence to state and federal pharmacy regulations.

Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with typing and pharmacy software.

Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.

Strong listening skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with close attention to detail.

High level of discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to efficiently transition between tasks.
Equipment & Technology

Familiarity with Framework LTC dispensing software preferred.

Experience with pharmacy automation and remote dispensing systems preferred.

Proficient with PC usage, Microsoft Office Suite, and web-based tools.
Travel Requirements

Limited travel may be necessary.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

Work is conducted in a professional office setting.

This role requires prolonged use of computer terminals and telephone/headset equipment.

Regular hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate office equipment.
