Position Summary:
The Assistant Pharmacy Manager is responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience by upholding the Customer 1st philosophy. This role involves meeting sales and profit targets, ensuring adherence to quality assurance standards, managing expenses, and effectively scheduling and supervising pharmacy technicians to meet business needs. The Assistant Pharmacy Manager oversees all departmental functions, including customer service, workflow operations, technician supervision, and patient consultations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately fill prescriptions while prioritizing patient safety and counseling customers on pharmaceutical care as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal pharmacy regulations, including HIPAA.

  • Maintain a professional image through appearance, conduct, and pharmacy environment; enforce company dress code and pharmacy standards.

  • Develop a strong understanding of the trade area, customer base, and competition.

  • Foster a positive pharmacy environment by promoting service, friendliness, and cooperation among customers, employees, and vendors.

  • Oversee inventory management including stock replenishment, pricing, planograms, product returns, and product recalls in accordance with company policies.

  • Manage records and security for controlled substances (narcotics) in compliance with legal requirements.

  • Follow procedures for handling pharmacy products sourced through authorized channels, with Peyton as the primary supplier.

  • Utilize accuracy tools such as accuracy scanners and the 24-Hour Post Dispensing Audit to maintain high standards of prescription accuracy.

  • Maintain all necessary documentation for legal, company, and accounting compliance.

  • Keep the pharmacy clean, organized, and professional, including counters, shelves, floors, and customer areas.

  • Ensure timely and policy-compliant handling of product returns.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot all pharmacy equipment including computers, printers, scanners, and cash registers.

  • Organize policy manuals, reference materials, and state law documents, ensuring all staff are familiar with their use.

  • Ensure all required signage is properly displayed, including store hours, counseling notices, service information, and pharmacist identification.

  • Perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, PharmD, or equivalent foreign pharmacist credential recognized by the Board of Pharmacy

  • Current valid State Pharmacist License in good standing

  • Strong communication skills

Preferred Experience:

  • 1-2 years of retail pharmacy experience
