Job Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of medications to patients. This role involves interpreting provider orders, monitoring drug therapy, and collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers. In addition, you will participate in hospital committees, contribute to clinical projects, and provide pharmacotherapy education to both staff and patients.


Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and evaluate provider orders for safe and rational drug therapy.

  • Ensure accuracy in drug dispensing and oversee medication distribution.

  • Monitor patient drug therapy and adjust treatment as needed.

  • Communicate with providers and nursing staff regarding medication management.

  • Support compliance with Bartlett Regional Hospital drug use policies.

  • Provide education to physicians, nurses, patients, and caregivers.

  • Participate in clinical projects and hospital committee work as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Pharmacy Degree (Bachelor’s or PharmD) from an accredited pharmacy school.

  • Experience: 1–2 years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred, or completion of a hospital-based pharmacy practice residency.

  • License: Active State of Alaska Pharmacist License in good standing.

  • Certifications: None required.


Compensation

  • External hires: Starting rate at $65.02 per hour. Final pay step placement is determined by relevant experience.

  • Internal hires: Pay rate follows applicable personnel rules or union contract terms.
