Position Summary

This role is responsible for the accurate, ethical, and legal preparation and dispensing of prescription medications. The pharmacist provides expert advice to customers on the proper usage, storage, and potential side effects of both prescription and over-the-counter medications. Additionally, this position involves managing pharmaceutical inventory and supervising pharmacy technicians as needed.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process prescription and refill requests from customers and clinics with efficiency, accuracy, and professionalism.
  • Dispense medications as prescribed, ensuring accurate retrieval, measurement, packaging, and labeling.
  • Offer guidance on medication usage, dosage, interactions, potential side effects, and proper storage.
  • Order, stock, and maintain pharmaceutical inventory, including over-the-counter medications.
  • Validate received orders for accuracy in quantity, quality, and condition, ensuring appropriate storage.
  • Monitor and manage outdated or damaged pharmaceutical products per established guidelines.
  • Maintain pharmacy records, including customer profiles, insurance documentation, inventory logs, and controlled substance registries.
  • Lead and oversee pharmacy technicians and interns to ensure seamless pharmacy operations.
  • Communicate effectively with the Pharmacy Manager regarding operational concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked department in compliance with company standards.
  • Implement and oversee pharmacy programs such as security measures, immunizations, and clinical initiatives.
  • Stay informed on legal regulations, industry trends, and best practices, recommending improvements as needed to ensure compliance.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, promoting company programs and loyalty initiatives.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or a related field (required).
    • Doctorate in Pharmacy (preferred).
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of three years in a pharmaceutical setting.
  • Licensure & Certification:

    • Active and valid Pharmacy License in the state of operation (required).
    • Immunization Certification (preferred).
  • Skills & Knowledge:

    • In-depth knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, pharmacy laws, and regulatory guidelines.
    • Strong communication and customer service skills.
    • Excellent multitasking, organizational, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Leadership capabilities with the ability to work in a hands-on environment.
    • Ability to complete required continuing education and maintain licensure in good standing.
    • Understanding of perpetual inventory procedures.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Bilingual skills are a plus, depending on the region.
