Pharmacist Job Responsibilities

Enhancing Patient Experience

Welcomes patients warmly, offering assistance with products and services.
Addresses patient inquiries and concerns promptly, ensuring a positive and personalized experience.
Sets an example for exceptional customer service, demonstrating care through engagement, active listening, and inclusivity.
Proactively connects with patients to identify their needs and inform them about Walgreens’ healthcare services, including medication management, drug therapy reviews, immunizations, and wellness services.
Participates in community events to promote Walgreens’ commitment to healthcare and well-being.

Pharmacy Operations & Compliance

Provides medication counseling, explaining usage, side effects, interactions, and cost-effective alternatives while ensuring patient confidentiality.
Conducts pharmacist tasks such as compounding, drug therapy reviews, prescription verification, and medication management.
Ensures the pharmacy operates in full compliance with state, federal, and Walgreens’ policies.
Assists the Pharmacy Manager in optimizing workflow, team coordination, and process efficiency.
Oversees insurance claims processing, resolves payment issues, and collaborates with healthcare providers to clarify prescriptions.
Administers clinical and wellness services such as immunizations, diagnostic testing, and disease management.
Builds and maintains strong relationships with local healthcare professionals to foster community engagement and business growth.

Leadership & Team Development

Supports the Pharmacy Manager in hiring, training, and mentoring pharmacy staff.
Provides coaching and constructive feedback, fostering team collaboration and motivation.

Professional Development & Training

Stays up to date with pharmacy laws, healthcare trends, and company policies through continuous learning.
Obtains required certifications and training, including immunization certification within 90 days of hire.
Seeks professional growth by monitoring performance and leveraging mentorship opportunities.

Communication & Corporate Alignment

Assists store and pharmacy managers in communicating Walgreens’ health and wellness strategies to staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited institution.
Active Pharmacist Licensure in the respective state(s).
Immunization Certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days).
Minimum one year of retail pharmacy experience, including prescription verification, compliance, operations, and insurance processing.
