Pharmacist (Float)

Position Summary

The primary responsibility of this role is to support customers in meeting their healthcare needs by accurately dispensing prescriptions, delivering exceptional customer service, and providing support in supervising pharmacy team members. This position requires frequent independent judgment and a commitment to maintaining safety and compliance with all corporate policies, as well as state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

In addition to other duties as assigned, the pharmacist will be accountable for the following:

• Ensure the accuracy, safety, and appropriateness of all prescriptions dispensed by conducting Drug Utilization Reviews and Final Quality Assurance checks, in accordance with applicable state and federal pharmacy regulations.

• Drive business growth and increase prescription volume through the delivery of clinical services, including immunizations, Medication Therapy Management (MTM), Diabetes Care Specialist (DCS) initiatives, and other company-sponsored healthcare programs.

• Deliver outstanding customer service by assisting with medical inquiries and offering expert healthcare advice and counseling.

• Supervise and support the work of Pharmacy Technicians and support staff during scheduled shifts.

• Partner with the Pharmacy Manager to coach, train, and guide pharmacy team members to ensure operational excellence.

• Take on full pharmacy management responsibilities in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager.

• Ensure the Pharmacy department maintains proper security and adheres to all applicable compliance standards.

• Handle and resolve customer questions, concerns, and complaints in a timely and professional manner to foster trust and loyalty.

• Communicate effectively with prescribers and utilize reference materials to ensure accuracy in filling prescriptions and resolving issues.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient pharmacy environment.

• Prioritize tasks to ensure timely completion of key responsibilities such as inventory control, cycle counts, and outreach to customers with ready-to-pick-up prescriptions.

Pay Range

$62.25 – $68.50 per hour (Commensurate with experience and qualifications)

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position includes direct supervision of Pharmacy Technicians and Cashiers. Responsibilities include participating in hiring, training, performance evaluations, direction of daily activities, and resolution of personnel issues, all in accordance with Rite Aid policies and relevant employment laws.
